Jackson's Death Distracts From Scandal

The coverage of Michael Jackson’s death and funeral has overwhelmed all other news stories for the last several weeks, leaving one recently scandalized politician very grateful. In fact, the press has been so narrowly focused on Michael Jackson that many people have forgotten about the scandal entirely.

The politician -- I believe he was a Senator, but he may have been a mayor or governor -- had just been exposed in a sex scandal. The scandal, involving -- oh crap, I think it he slept with his videographer while his wife’s cancer was in remission, but he might have had a South American mistress or gotten impeached after sleeping with a White House intern -- anyway, the scandal threatened to ruin his political career.

But with the announcement of the Jackson’s death immediately after the scandal broke, the residents of South Carolina -- wait, was it Georgia? It was definitely one of those Southern states -- I think… anyway, the residents got so distracted that it saved the politician’s career. At least I think it did. I honestly haven’t been paying attention.

With interest in Jackson’s death waning, the opposition party hopes the politician -- dang it, what was his name? He had the same last name as a family in a black sitcom. He wasn’t a Huxtable, of that I’m sure. He may have been named after the Jeffersons or Sanford and Son -- anyway, now that Jackson’s not front page news, the opposition party plans to remind everyone of the scandal with the following statem…

This just in. Michael Jackson’s hometown of Gary Indiana held a memorial for the pop icon featuring performers singing and dancing to his hits.
